Okay, well.....Schuyler ended up having to another surgery at the end of October to have a VP Shunt put in. The shunt took the place of the VAD device. This drains on it's own so no more needles going into my precious little angels head. So far the shunt seems to be working although about two weeks ago we had a little scare because the site where the shunt was placed became quite swollen. It has since decreased in size. They say her head ultrasounds look great.

So far her heart is holding up. The increased her doseage of Viagra a while back (and yes, I said Viagra) for her Pulmonary Hypertension. Things aren't probably ever going to be a 100% corrected with that but it's something she can live with for now. She is healing well from both surgeries, although the scar from her heart surgery is still very dark. Hopefully it will fade with time.

I am not sure how much she weighed the last time I posted but my tiny little tot is now almost 11lbs. Getting big and so cute with her double chin and all her tiny little rolls. The docs say it is from the lipids she was on and all the steroids. Hopefully it will decrease over time. I hear that a lot. She is still on tube feeding because she wants nothing to do with a bottle. Guess she just wants the food the easy way. No effort or work on her part. The doc is talking about putting in a G-Tube, basically a feeding tube inserted into her stomach and she would use that until she can get her nutrition by mouth. A little scary but if she gets it, it means she is closer to coming home. So I would be willing to tube feed her for as long as she needs at home. A little scary but I think I can handle it.

Okay, onto the breathing. Wow, has she gotten better. She is on 1/4 of a litter of pressure, this is with 100% oxygen though. It is a good thing though because she can come home on a oxygen tank, and she is right at the point where they would send her home on one. I am so excited I think she will be coming home soon. I just want her home with us. We have been in the hospital for so long it will just be good to get her home finally.

I guess that is all the updates I can really do on Schuyler for now. So she probably has one more surgery and then she will be coming home, we hope. Hope everyones holidays are beautiful and full of love and happiness.
