I am writing this in hope that if I get this out of my head that maybe tonight I will be able to sleep.
Wake up Friday morning, and the whole left side of Steven's face is swollen to the point that. his eye is shut and black/blue, and he told me both his eyes hurt. I called the peditrician, who gave me a dentist's number. Really nice dr. and he told me just take him to the ER, because no one will touch him in the office with his face like that.
Well, I woke up Steven's father, and told him everything, he looked at Steven, and went back to sleep !!!!! Said he worked 25 hours in 2 days, that he was tried !!
I was dialing a cab, when my call waiting kicked in. It was one of my friends, told her what was happening and she told me she'd give me a ride. Good thing as a cab would have cost at least $50.00.
I get to the Children's hosptial Dental ER, and when I walked in the receptionist was like what time is your appointment ? I told her, I don't have an appointment, she said,"Well, we don't take walk in's" I felt like telling her, "Are you kidding me, isn't this an ER ??? Instead, I took Steven over to her, and said, "This is why I am here without an appointment. The peditric dentist told me just to bring him here. "
Then they asked me what insurance, and they told me we don't take it. HELLO are you a hospital ?? How can they say that ???
She went to the back, and came out with 4 dr's. As soon as my signature was on the paperwork they took Steven in the back.
What happened next is something I will never forget, don't wish this on anyone, and is why I couldn't sleep last night.
Since Steven was giving them a hard time, wouldn't lay down for the xrays, or open his mouth. They strapped him to a board, and wrapped him like a body straight jacket, (he looked like Hannibal Lechter), he was screaming bloody murder. Then, they jacked open his mouth, he now trying to lift his body up. The 3 other dr's were holding him down. Yes, they did, give him a shot, but to be honest, how much he got, since he was fighting them so much. And they ripped that tooth out. It wasn't a smooth procedure. I almost fainted to say the least.
Now, I am so angry at Steven's father I just feel he should have been there. Not only for support for me, but also for Steven's sake.
Today, Steven told me, that his teeth still hurt, along with his eyes, arms, legs, even his toes, he said. I right away saw in my mind's eye, them holding him down and him screaming.
Comments:
OMGosh girl, poor Steven!! I can't imagine how his little self must have felt =[ And the freakin' nerve of the doctors... trying to deny you care because of your insurance??? WTF? Ahh!
Glad Steven is feeling better & the tooth is out! Hopefully he doesn't have to go through that pain again!

I hope that he is doing better now.
When I was little, under the age of 3, I had to get stitches in my chin... all I remember from that whole event is the color of the board they strapped me down on. Navy blue with kelly green piping.
