Being that I will be induced on January 8th, I had to change my tickers today. I guess seeing the change really hit me that she will be here before I know it!! I have been trying to do as much reading up on all the technical advances that have happened since I delivered my last child, 13 years ago! You have to love it and laugh when the doctor tells you that many consider if there is more than 10 years in between deliveries, that it counts as it is your first! Oh Lord, I hope not! Not that either of my deliveries were difficult, thank God. Both were delivered in under an hour from start to finish. Both were early, 2 and 3 weeks to be exact. And both came out in one push. Now THATS some muscle control!
But, I do have to say, as time gets closer, and the older that I get...the more chicken I get! When I had my other 2, I was 21 and 25. Both were totally natural, vaginal births....and I didnt receive ANY meds, not even when they repaired the tears! Ummm...OUCH!!! I have done the natural births and the middle of the night and your water breaks. I have been the single mom for over 10 years, made it on my own, and even flew for the Air Force during Desert Storm! I have made my point to this world that I can and have done it. And now, I'm telling you....GIVE ME THE DRUGS!! I'm serious! Make me comfortable!
I hear that when they induce you, the contractions are harder and stronger. That's fine, just give me the good juice this time around! I'm excited to walk into the hospital on January 8th, on my own two feet, not in the middle of intense labor. I plan on having a leisurely, scheduled trip, with everyone already aware of where I will be that day. Then hook up the IV, and then start the epidural! Oh, and know that I have already well informed my doctor that if I tear or needed an episiodomy, please turn up the juice!! My daughter was actually laying on my chest while they were stitching me up with not even Novocaine!! It was all I could do to keep from squeezing her with each stitch! Yes, older definitely means wiser!!! At 38, I have nothing to prove to anyone, and being that I did it twice the au natural way, Id like to check out how the other side delivers babies this time around. We still plan on trying for one more, and honestly, if I didn't have all the high risk factors, I think I would consider a water birth! Who knows, maybe Ill be able to! In the meantime, make sure the anestegeolist is on call!!
