First let me say how happy I am to finally be back online! Secondly, I need to say that while I love him more than life itself, sometimes my darling husband has the brain of a paperclip!!!!

While he was getting ready for work and I was sleeping in, he decided to mess with the new computer! We haven't even had it 24 hours and he starts messing with it!! WHY do men do things like this???  Why can't they just check out programs and feature instead of immediately trying to change things????

Little background info here...we had got a virus on his computer (thanks to him) that Norton could never get off, so we sent the computer off and used mine as our main pc. Well, his came back and was a lot faster than mine so we put it to work. All we can figure is the virus never totally got taken out because after awhile, same problem!

I talked to literally, a rocket scientist here in town that works on computer to help people out. He told me that Norton was useless and to get McAfee, so I did.  Well, the old pc was in such bad shape that it wouldn't allow me to dump Norton and install McAfee. I was totally locked out of all kinds of things like that! (Luckily I can still access my pictures, so I am getting them off to be printed!)

Anyway, so I buy the new pc last night and it comes pre-loaded with a 90 day subscription to Norton. No major issue, I was going to read up on the info and then see if I could uninstall Norton because you have to before you can load McAfee.

What does my husband do?????? Comes in here at 6 am and decides that Norton had to go right then! But he didn't get it done and left for work leaving me NO IDEA what all he had done! He had this computer SO messed up I had to just turn it off because it wouldn't even shut down right!!! He is SO impatient it drives me nuts!

Thanks to him I can't fully uninstall Norton which means I can't install McAfee so I have no idea just what our virus protection actually is right now!! Yes, I know in his mind he was trying to help but he just made a mess and if I say anything to him he will get his dander up.

Oh and to top it off, I had a box of Chex mix that I had told the kids not to eat because I was going to make some holiday mix, well he had a bowl of it this morning and while 1 bowl missing out of the box was no big deal, Sarah sees the other kids reaching for the box and reminds them that Momma said not to eat it but he tells them he already had a bowl and to go ahead!!

Yeah I know, it's just cereal....but after the computer thing, it was the icing on the cake that was my breakfast this morning!!!  You all will be proud of me though, I kept my cool and I have done all my venting here and not at him or the kids! Man I have missed blogging! It is such good therapy! LOL!!

Hope you all have a better start to your day than I did!!! Mine will get better I'm sure!

Sandy

Dec. 7, 2007 at 10:53 AM Don't you just love it when they do that?  I love my dh with all my heart, but some days.....lol.  When first got my laptop, it came with Norton, and when that trial subscription was over, I got McAfee.  I wasn't impressed with it - I ended up with more viruses than I did with the Norton.  I tried Zone Alarm, and I haven't used another program since.  I totally love this program, although it is a little bit of a pain to set up at first, only because every program that either wants to access the net, or use one of your programs has to ask for permission before it actually can.  Once you tell it that it is allowed, it doesn't bother you again, and it alerts you immediately if there is a problem.  Since my laptop, we have added 2 more laptops, and a desktop to our computer inventory here at the house, and every one of them runs Zone Alarms.  2 of our friends are computer programers by trade, and they both recommend Zone Alarms over Norton or McAfee.
