Holiday Vacation

After a grueling week of finals and Maddie’s ear ache, we left the city life for the beautiful small town of Ruidoso, New Mexico. My parents have a beautiful cabin up here. It is my families holiday weekend.

We are all here; Mom, dad and most of my brothers and sisters. 15 of us in all. Last night we all got dressed up and had an awesome holiday dinner then played Pictionary. After 2 hours and 7 bottles of wine later we figured out that the more mom drinks the better her victory dances get. (mom never drinks, it was hilarious)

This morning we opened Christmas presents. Maddie’s first Christmas. My mom and I cried as we watched her. Well I didn’t break down until I looked up and realized my mom was overjoyed and crying.

Just here in the cabin away from the everyday routine, playing uno with my dad like I used to when I was younger. Sleeping in late. Watching my mom and dad enjoy Maddie. Enjoying my morning cup of coffee with my mom. Watching the deer in the mountains. Enjoying life, my family and our health.

Two more days of fresh mountain air. Do we have to return back to reality?
