I have been having a lot of back contractions, especially at night so I finally went to the L&D floor after a lot of convincing from Tim. I didn't want to go because I went up there for monitoring before and they treated me like I was paranoid and crazy...and I didn't feel like this was something to worry about because my cramping wasn't getting closer together or patterned or anything so I assumed it was false labor. I had a fibronectin test (which evaluates for preterm labor) and it was positive! Everyone got all hustled and excited over that and then I suddenly had a thought and finally spoke up, telling them that I had had sex with my husband a few hours previous (I'm a registered Nurse so I have a little knowledge about this stuff and realized this might have caused a false positive). The resident looked crushed (I think she was disappointed that she wouldn't be able to get in on some action) and said a little coldly, "Why would you have sex while you're in pain?!" (yes, inappropriate response #1). I grinned at her and said "oh, you haven't seen my husband..." I can't believe that came out of my mouth, I'm usually a pretty modest person on these topics but I couldn't help a smart response to a question like that... sigh. She didn't even crack a smile and left in kind of a huff. Either way, I wasn't having BH anymore and there wasn't any dialation so I came home... and here I am, laughing a little but feeling really tired of being pregnant... sigh.

Feb. 5, 2008 at 1:34 PM Ha! I did the same thing with my first...I went to the OB ER after having contractions at about 32 weeks(after having intercourse just a few hours prior.) They did a cervical smear to check for amniotic fluid.....I could hear the resident down the hall @ the microscope say "Oh, I see something special..." My husband turned a hundred shades of red..  Kudos...
