I never thought I'd be the type to have a "cause"....
There are many things I think need changing, but I've always kind of thought:
"Oh well there are plenty of people already working to: (fill in the blank)
"Raise money for cancer cures"
"Improve women's rights"
"Stop racism"
"Save the planet"
ETC. ETC. ETC. ad nauseum....
They don't need me, I thought. I'm not a "cause" type person, I thought.
UNTIL! I came here to Cafemom.
AND! I joined the Adoption group.
WHICH! Led me to other groups concerning adoption.
And months and months of listening to stories from courageous women.
Months and months of realizing just how many women are VICTIMS of the Adoption Industry.
The WALKING WOUNDED of the Adoption Industry.
MANIPULATED by adoption agency employees, adoptive parents, lawyers, social workers, "THE SYSTEM".
"THE SYSTEM" that needed their babies in order to earn a paycheck.
"THE SYSTEM" that promised women open adoptions.
Only for the women to find themselves VICTIMS of adoptive parents who walked away and never looked back.
VICTIMS of adoptive parents with no conscience, devoid of morals.
I have found a cause, or it's found me. And I'm not sure where to go from here, but I'm going SOMEWHERE.
My hats off to the ladies on Cafemom who have shared so freely and given me such an education. It's not an education that makes me happy, but certainly one that cannot be ignored.

What a moving journal post!
A woman who heard, and has allowed it to change her.
A woman who has not just replied with pity.
No, a woman who has been personally affected and wants to DO something about it - other than say "oh, that's too bad."
We DO Need you!
Thank you for sharing. We'll be going "somewhere" together!
cheerio!

We definitely do need you! And, I will tell you that many of us are here for the exact same reasons you now are. I never dreamed in my late fifties that I would become an activist of any sort - but, it happened. We have seen (and/or felt) the injustices, pain, etc. and know that things need to change - and that unless we speak out and force change - it will never happen. Thanks for this post - you can't imagine how much it moves me!
