Its only natural to be stressed when faced with the overwhelming crisis of divorce. WE KNOW that if we had any control over the writing of our "life story" we would not have included these events. There is life after divorce. After everything is all said and done, one day, you will be able to see the positive growth that came from the experience. Perhaps right now, you can't see or you don't want to see that...That's okay. You will, one day.
Romans 8:28 "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose." (NAS)
You did notice, it says, "All things". This would include your divorce.
Before my divorce, God had given me a "heart" for divorced women. I didn't know it at the time, but I was already ministering to half of my girl-friends, who were divorced or re-married. Hmmm, Did God know, that one day I would be His instrument in providing a loving support ministry to Christian Divorced women? I believe He did. God's fore-knowledge of my situation did not control my choices or my ex's choices in our marriage. He KNEW the choices we would eventually make. Even while he hates divorce, He loves me (and my ex) and He cares for the divorced. He combined my passion, love and experience to start Picket Fences, divorce recovery ministry for HIM. He even gave me the scripture Joel 2:25 and within one hour it was confirmed by another witness! My mission was placed before me.
What makes life dance for us is change. Like it or not, change is what we most dread and fear. Divorce is a BIGGIE! While we do not welcome divorce, nor should we, we can welcome the lessons it will teach us. These lessons, are the stepping stones to a closer relationship to God, and becoming the beautiful woman, God knows us to be (even if we don't believe it or see it yet) Loved and forgiven.
Embrace the promise of Joel 2:25, that once this season passes, and it will...God will use you. "God will repay you for the years the locust have eaten. Joel 2:25"
I'm excited for you! Here's to the NEW Year...Onward and UPWARD!
