Getting DH to stop smoking...

Well DH got a nasty cold and he has been hacking up a lung.  He swears it was from kids we saw at xmas, but neither me or the baby got sick.  I told him it's cuz he smokes that he gets every little germ that comes around.   I have wanted him to quit since last year when I got pregnant but haven't been too hard on him.  I thought he would try to quit for the baby but he hasn't.

Well his brother who everyone thinks is kind of an idiot was able to quit, so I'm using that angle.  His bro got some meds that helped.  So this morning I was like, "if your idiot brother can do it, you certainly can."  Let's see if it works!

And I cut him off when he did what he always does when I pick a fight.  He says, "oh, you must be hormonal, that time of the month, etc."  I said, "you just tell yourself that so that you can disregard whatever I'm saying instead of listening to me."  How's THAT logic!  Airtight!

So let's hope he tries to quit.  I don't think he really likes smoking, he gets all defensive whenever anyone says anything to him or even in general about how bad it is, etc.

I also said to him that the 'live fast, die young" thing, now that we have a daughter, is just downright SELFISH.  He also tends to drink a lot sometimes, but one thing at a time...

Let's hope he gets it.  It's time for him to take better care of himself.

OMG I have been trying for 3 years to get my dh to quit.  He was so close and then we went away for the holidays and he was hanging with other smokers and started all over again.  The thing is they real;ly have to want to do it or else it will not work.  I've tried being supportive, being angry and totally ignoring his smoking and nothing makes any difference.  when my kids are old enough to understand and to speak well I will be recruiting them to my cause, how can he say no to them?
