Well today has been an interesting day to say the least.  I got up this am was putting my makeup on, getting ready for work, when my daughter said something that made me laugh and I realized that the right side of my face didn't move.  I of course went into panic mode as to why my smile only worked on one side of my face and why my one eye wouldn't blink.  So I called my trusty little dr. went into see him.  And he tells me I have Bells Palsy.  Oh joy!!! I have known one other person that had this, well and hers never went away.  He seems positive that with where we caught it as quick as we did that I should be fine.  Well what if it doesn't go away then what?  What happens then?  Has anyone else been diagnosed with this?  What was your outcome, how did you deal with it?

Thanks

Michelle

Apr. 18, 2007 at 12:27 AM  I have a co-worker/friend who just recently had another episode (I hope I'm calling it by the correct term, if not I apologize) just two weeks ago. She had been diagnosed with it 10 years ago, did not have treatment then, but it didn't occur again until two weeks ago. She has been receiving physical therapy on her face, and it seems to be working really well. She had lost function of her right side, could not even talk very well at first, but now she seems to be doing much better. I think it also helps to have supportive friends and family to make the person feel at ease with the illness. I know my friend is somewhat embarrassed by it, doesn't want to talk, but I try to encourage her to continue being herself. So, hang in there, and everything will work out for the best.

May. 2, 2007 at 4:03 AM My mom had it after one of her pregnancies and it went away after awhile. She has two episodes with it . But everything turned out fine, she was back to normal after a few weeks, a little freaked out at first. Talk with your Dr., but I'm sure you'll be fine after awhile.
