Today ends my first week of college. I am really enjoying it. I have met a few people that are really nice. Most of the students are 18 or 19 yrs old. I feel so old around them. I know I'm only 25 but I have a family and a grown up life. These kids still live at home most don't work and they are in school because their parents are paying and making them go. So I have nothing in common with most of them.

I am so tired. I am trying to adjust to my new schedule but it is a little harder than I thought. No one at home is picking up the slack like they said they would. When I tell john how tired I am he tells me "I don't know why all you did was sit at a desk all day" WTF. I feel really overwhelmed right now. A couple of times I have wondered if I made a bad decision by going back to school right now. I hope things get easier after I get used to it. right now all I want to do is go to sleep.  Thank you guys for listening to me whine. I feel better now

Jan. 15, 2008 at 10:18 AM It gets easier. I have been going to college for 2 years now, half-time. My girls are only 3 and 20 months so my biggest thing is finding time to study cause it's impossible unless they are somewhere else. I go to a community college so there's a lot of older people and I am so glad for that. Just kick your family's butts and tell them that you need help. It's a lot of pressure and work. They need to be supportive.

i've found my best friends are coffee and prepared meals, and i don't mean fast food. i've been in college now for 6 yrs. hopefully one of these days i'll be done. i only have one child so therefore inherently it might be a little harder for you, but all the same too. i have to keep telling myself on a daily basis I AM BEAUTIFUL, I AM STRONG, AND I AM CONFIDENT, just so i know i can do it- again, and again, and again because the routine will beat you down.  You are smart enough to recognize the value and benefits of a degree, therefore you deserve it. college over all is not hard, i mean, every once in a while you'll get assignments that pull you into the wee hrs of the night but for the most part, its just showing up.  another thing i've found is that teachers REALLY appreciate class participation. my grade has been raised a whole letter, just b/c of things like that. i wish you all the best. keep your head up, you will become stronger because of it and others will look at you in envy, asking "how does she do it?!"
