Protecting Futures
Backround:
In some parts of the world, girls cannot attend school if they have their period. That's what happens to some girls in Southern Africa. Why? They don't have tampons or pads. Missing a few days of school every month adds up. They fall behind on their school work, sometimes so far behind they drop out. Getting pads to these girls on a regular basis is a great start to helping them stay in school.
It starts with a pad:
Providing sanitary pads is just one part of our Protecting Futures program. We are also funding a health, hygiene and puberty education program that will be taught by a traveling health educator. What's more, Tampax and Always are funding a healthcare provider who will provide healthcare to the girls. For many of the girls, this will be the first time they receive pads on a regular basis. They will learn how to use pads properly and have the opportunity to ask questions and talk openly about their bodies' changing needs.
What you can do:
Go to the site , buy a T-shirt, spread awarness, or buy some pads.
Your purchase of Tampax or Always helps us donate $1.4 million through 2008 to the United Nations Association's HERO campaign to help provide feminine protection and education to girls in Southern Africa.
Who knew a little thing like purchasing a pad or tampon could make such a huge difference?
Please spread the word, do whatever you have to help these girls. On the site, you can view some of the commercials and learn more about the program.

I think it's great, but everytime I hear "Have a happy period" (especially when my hormones are getting wacky) it really irritates me. They should change it to something like "do good through your suffering" Eh. Could be cause I have PMS.
