Yesterday I walk into daycare to see my 9 year old son crying and holding ice to his neck.  Not just crying but slightly hysterical.    Of course I run across the gym and ask what happened.  The teacher a male just out of highschool told me the following.
The kids were playing dodge ball.   DJ (My son) threw a ball at a kid who I guess wasnt playing and the kid attacked my son.  He wrapped his hands around my sons neck and threw him to the ground.    My son is a very small 9.   He left hand marks on my sons neck.
I go to take my son into daycare this am.   And low and behold here sits this demon seed.    I ask the lady  (Mind you the morning staff and the afternoon staff are different people) for a copy of the incident report and proceed to ask why said child is allowed in daycare today.    She said he isnt allowed to particpate in any group play all week.   Personally I dont think this is enough my son has been going to this before after summer care since he was 4 we always pay on time and he has rarely been in trouble in 5 years.
I will be speaking with the director tonight and need some advice on what to do or say.   The care has been flawless the staff amazing and now this happens so I dont know what to do....

Please give some insight.

Thanks,
Jenn

Jan. 15, 2008 at 10:15 AM i would demand something more be done, because for a child to just go off out of the blue, theres something more going on eather with the children or in the other boys life thats causing all the rage.  I hope your son is alright.

I would demand for something to be done.  Have a meeting with that child's parents and the director.  I would also make sure that they know why you are there and explaining to them that it better not happen again.  I can't believe that they didn't suspend him.  If it happens again I would call the police and have them file a police report on that child so he can get help if the parents can't keep control of their child.  Jeepers I don't look forward to my child to go to school.  What is the world and schools coming to.
