It was a warm day in 2002 when I was rushed to the hospital in severe pain, when I arrive the doctors told me I would need an emergency hysterectomy, at the time I only had one ovary and had been on several medications to help with the pain and bleeding. Many times we tried to get pregnant but each visit with the doctor was negative, she believe that my remaining ovary was too damaged...From age 19 until a couple of years ago I battled with endometriosis so on that day in July of 2002, I had an hysterectomy ..I cried many days after this - knowing I would never be or experience pregnancy...While in the hospital me an my husband decided that we would be parents through adoption. I was reminded that I have a son who loves me - who I have been in his life since he was a month old... He reminded me how I work with our youth at church and how they look at me... My pastor re assured me - He said - "You have alot of love to give and the Lord will see you through it, there is a mother who needs you, there is a child who needs you... Each person has a calling on their life...God knows your heart" ... Many wanted to know why we were adopting, why didn't we get pregnant, this is in short the reason and I feel blessed to love a child regardless if I birth them...

I am trusting and I believe that God will bless us in his own time, I am comforted by his word ... I am grateful and secure that God will bless us...

Giving birth does not make you a parent. Parenting is in the day-to-day grind. A parent makes sure their kids eat before they do. It's late nights, early mornings with nothing to show for it, but a burp. Whatever your reason for adopting, that kid will be very lucky to have you in their life. Keep the faith, and keep your courage up. Remember one must be fearless to truly love.

Jan. 15, 2008 at 2:29 PM Girl giving birth does not make you a parent. Being up late nights withe colds, hours in the ER, going to PTA meetings, Buying for them before you, unconditional love and understanding. Praying on your knees constantly for their safety, Making sure they have a roof over their head, heat and electricity. Making sure they have nothing to ever worry about is what makes a good parent and girl you give all of this without ever flinching. You are a beautiful person and have a giving heart. I know God has big plans for you and is just weeding out that special child to send to you. Hold on to your Faith girl. He knows what needs to be done and how to get you there. I told you we are claiming this girl.

Jan. 15, 2008 at 3:57 PM I can also say that giving birth does not make you a mother. I know lots of women who have giving birth and their did just that gave birth. I also know how it feel to be told you cant have kids. I was just one lucky person who overcame obstical and had a healthy baby boy last April. Lately I have thought about giving some caring couple of your status the chance to be parents by being a surrogate mother. Just want to know if you guys considered that as an option.

So very true!  We are living proof of that here-that you dont have to give birth to be a real parent!  Praying for you....
