Who could possible feel great about doing laundry? Are you kidding, Carmen? I know. I know. But just listen.
First lets establish some ground rules. Do you separate or "cram and slam"? You know what cram and slam is ... you cram the whole basket of clothes in the washer and slam the lid closed and pray that your mom doesn't come over on laundry day.
Second: we only wash Full Loads of Laundry. No two pairs of jeans. We make the most of our time, energy, water use, detergent, money, ect.
Third: Recruiting other family members to separate, fold, hand and put away is perfectly acceptable but mom if you are the only one big enough to do this you will have to make the decision of now, nap time or later in the day.
If you do separate do you do it at the point of removal or in the laundry area. If at point of removal simply pick the basket/bag most full to take to laundry. If you separate at site you can separate upon arrival or simply load what was separated yesterday. I recommend separating upon arrival or if you have an older child then their chore can be to separate, they can do this as young as 5 or 6 very successfully, some even younger but expect some mistakes.
Now with your method in place you wake up in th morning grab a basket/bag from point of drop off or in laundry room presort. Remove yesterday's dryer clothes to basket, move clothes in washer from yesterday to dyer and put new load in washer. You have just accomplished 4 things in less than 15 minutes. So no matter how the rest of the day goes you can say that you accomplished something.
You can fold and put away now if you have time or wait to do this during a favorite show or during the kids nap time.
For those of you with larger families. You may need to repeat this process at night also.
Try it for a week. If this doesn't help you get ahead of the laundry monster after one week. Quit. You won't hurt my feelings but I bet you love it and sometimes you will even get a break if you have a smaller family because their just isn't eough for a full load somedays.
