Jan. 26, 2008 at 3:04 PM What kind of midwife do you want to be.?...certified nurse midwife (requires you to be an RN), or certified professional midwife (no nursing degree required, but not legal in all states.).....One you decide then you can figure out what you need to do.

Really, to become a midwife, you would need to become a RN (i am a RN). Here is a link that will give you some more info on becoming a CNM. Hope it helps.

I am also an RN.....you do not need to be an RN to become a midwife but as I stated not all states recognize professional midwives.....here is a link for you to research all teh different avenues available to becoming a midwife.

Jan. 27, 2008 at 12:22 PM yeah i really don't want to do nurse midwifery. i could but its not what i want. i see a number of midwives out here in portland that aren't nurse midwives, and i have noticed that a lot of nurse midwives tend to be very OB about their midwifery, vs the traditionl midwifery option.
