Birth Control Pills and Women

I am writing a paper on birth controls pills and need thoughts on what anyone thinks of them in general.  Any opinion is appreciated thanks.

Jan. 30, 2008 at 10:08 AM I am unable to take them because of blood clots.  When I was taking them I started having a vein raise up in my arms, and I couldn't straighten them.  Went to the ER and they couldn't tell me what the problem was.  Then my mom told me and as soon as I stopped taking them I was fine.

Jan. 30, 2008 at 10:10 AM Thank God they found out what was wrong.  I just would get headache or moodiness with some.  And then when I stopped, the headaches and moodness would go away.

Jan. 30, 2008 at 10:29 AM Yeah the dr.s were no help at all....they had never told me the side effects.  I had never heard of getting blood clots from the pill.

Jan. 30, 2008 at 10:34 AM lets not forget some BC make your hair fall out, yikes!! went on the depo shot and my hair started fallen out!!

Jan. 30, 2008 at 11:24 AM i think that anything that messes up your body's natural little system is not safe. or good for you. i know people take the pills all the time ,and more power to those people, but it's definately not for me

Jan. 30, 2008 at 5:19 PM The pills are not for me either! When I was on them I had a period every two weeks that lasted 7-10 days, had pains in my legs, my insurance wouldn't pay anything for them, and I got pregnant anyway.

Jan. 31, 2008 at 10:51 AM There are definitely safety issues with the pill.  A lot of women just take them and don't ever think about what could happen, not to mention there is no such thing as 100% safe birth control protection.  Well, except abstinence, LOL.

I have been on the pill for over 11 years (minus the time that I decided to have my son) I have had no problems with them at all. I started taking them because of irregular periods and now I take them because I am married and not ready to have another baby. I am just now starting to worry about long term side effects of these things. I have been on them for so long and even though I dont feel like I have had any problems, it doesnt mean that I wont down the line. I am trying to decide if getting off the pill and starting a different type of birth control would be a good idea.
