A very good friend of mine, my cousin, as I always referred to him, is looking into adopting.  Here is a copy of his letter to me.
Aimee and I met and retained with an adoption attorney last week. Unbeknown to us, he handled Rosie O'Donnell's adoptions.  To try to avoid some advertising costs in 21 states (average $1,000/month) I decided to start an email campaign under another email address (wewanttoadopt@verizon.net) to my 400 email contacts. I'm hoping to start a chain reaction and find a birth mother.  Our attorney advised us to practice privacy of last names and cities when advertising and speaking with prospective birth mothers. Our target birth mothers (who are most likely opt for adoption) are between their 20's-30's. Younger and teen mothers most of the time have the "grandparents" as a support system so they're less likely to choose adoption.
Can I put you on the adoption email distribution list and can you forward that email to as many people as you can? The email will contain an 800 number that will be forwarded to my cell phone, which birth mothers can call 24/7.
THIS IS FOR REAL! THESE PEOPLE ARE MY FRIENDS! THIS IS NOT A HOAX!
I wouldn't ask anyone to forward something that I wasn't 100 % supportive of.  These two individuals, Aimee and Alex, are the best candidates for parenthood.  I wish them lots of luck and hope you forward this email to everyone in your contact list. PLEASE HELP THEM BY CONTACTING THEM THROUGH THE EMAIL ADDRESS ABOVE! JUST WRITE TO THEM AND SAY, I WANT TO HELP!
Also, please make this post popular so they can get the help they need. PLEASE!
Thanks!

Watch out...in many states, an individual that is not a lawyer, agency, DFS, etc. cannot "advertise" adoption like this.  You and/or your friends may easily get in trouble over this.  They need to confirm that this is okay by their lawyer.

I know this because we went through the adoption route ourselves.  We wanted to do the same...even made up little business cards to post up on store's bullentin boards.  Our agency put a stop to that pretty quickly and warned us of what could happen.

Just wanted to give you a head's up.  All the luck to your friends.  We were matched with our daughter's birth-mom just 3-1/2 months after our homestudy was approved.
