Just thought I would let you all know that Emily met with the ENT yesterday and she will be getting tubes in her ears on March 20th. They are both full of fluid. Thank you all for responding to my post about tubes and making me feel better. Please feel free to share your stories on how the actual procedure went. Did your children seem senistive to sound at first?

My daughter got tubes shortly after she turned 2, I noticed that she just wasn't talking right(kinda like she didn't hear things right). She had the same problem, both her ears had fluid in them and she had lost 50% of her hearing. And yes they are very sensitive to sound after the surgery, like immediatley. The same day that my daughter had the surgery she was complaining that running water was too loud, the tv was too loud, and she was screaming bloody murder when I vaccummed for the first time after the tubes. It is really amazing how fast you notice the difference. My daughter didn't have many ear infections but the fluid build up was from allergies. i was so scared b/c of the anethesia, but she was away from me for about 20 minutes. She woke up mad, but was back to her usual self, as if nothing ever happened just a couple of hours later!! Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

My son got tubes in his ears a year ago and he is doing great. His ears were so clogged he wasnt hearing right. Now he is doing great. Talking so much because he can hear better now. We go to an ENT in Indy right now that I love. But he got them when we lived in NJ. ALthough the surgery was only a few minutes it felt like forever being away from him. Good luck.
