my daughter Felicity who is 11 yrs old and in the 6th grade will be taking part on an exchange program in May. She will be spending a week in the home of another student, whose parents we do not know, I guess I am the typical mom where I worry and am nervous about her staying with strangers. She will also be boarding an airplane for the first time, she will be with other students from her class, and this also makes me nervous. I feel apprehensive about the whole thing but am allowing her to go because part of me worries that I am a little afraid of letting go as a mom and letting her spread her wings. WOuld you let your child go? WOuld you be nervous? Please help

Jan. 31, 2008 at 11:32 AM I think she sounds a little young to be staying with a family that you don't know.  Is a teacher going to be chaperoning these students?  Do they all stay with the same family?  I would think something like that would be more appropriate for high school students.
