I am at home all day with all of my children.  This is most of the time a blessing and in once in a while it doesn't seem like a blessing.  I am trying to capture our time together and be thankful for it.

Today was one of those days where it felt like something was just off.  It didn't help that we started the day with the baby falling off my bed while in the care of one of her older sisters.  Now I know that the 5 year old isn't ready to help mama in this way.

School happened, but it didn't really flow smoothly.  Let's just be thankful that it happened!  The baby was very clingy all day as well.  So needless to say, I wasn't very productive.

In the afternoon it was time to clean the bathroom.  All 4 of the older girls wanted to do a job.  I was very encouraged by this.  They don't have many responsibilities in our home because it is just easier for me to do it.  Someone cleaned the sink, someone cleaned the tub, someone washed the outside of the toilet, everyone wanted to take their turn swooshing the toilet bowl.  My 3 y.o. and I worked together to wash the floor.  I was so proud of them that I didn't have to scream and hollar to get them to do it.  It was their idea!  Praise God for that.  Now they know that they can help out and that it isn' too painful!

Last week I decided to try to make my own cleaner. So far I think that I am just as happy with it compared to using the commercial brand cleaners.  Not to mention, I don't have to worry about poisoning my girls while they help!  Very cool!  I am going to give the homemade cleaners a month to see how they work!  I think that my house feels just as clean!  I love not having that chemical smell that lingers for days.  I used to think that that was the sign of a clean house.  I am rethinking that.  I now smell lavender and I just love that!!!  Making my own cleaner is also a bonus for the environment.  But mostly I want to have cleaner air for my children to breath.

I will write in a couple weeks with an update on my experiment!  Until then ...

Feb. 17, 2008 at 10:51 AM I'd love to know how the cleaners work out.
I hate the harsh smells of cleaners. I know they have to be damaging to our respiratory system.
