Most of these pictures are strictly mine, with the last 2 belonging to the president of the pit bull rescue that I volunteer for.  These are the images that everyone needs to see and be reminded of.

Please erase this picture from your mind that the media has given you....

And replace it with all of the ones above, as those are the "true" pit bull.  Please care enough to think outside of the box and research this wonderful breed today.  YOU could be a hero in the life of a homeless pit bull.

They are really sweet dogs.  It's the way they are raised more than anything that determines their aggressiveness.

Any dog will be aggressive when put through what fighting pitt bulls are put through in order to make them mean enough to win. Thanks for getting the word out I have known lots of great pitt bulls and they are so misunderstood.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 8:35 AM We cant wait to get our Pit Bull sweetheart, we just havent found her yet! We are working on it , and I know when we find her , we will know she is the one. Our Rottweiler cant wait to have a Pit Bull sister to play with. I hate the unfortuante misconseptions that our lovable "Bully" dogs are put though , I find it disturbing that people are more worried about Pit Bulls, Rottweilers ETC, that they are about child molesters in their neighborhood, crime, drugs in our schools, guns on the street, teenage pregnancy, and all the other horrible things that affect our world on a day to day basis. Responsible Bully owners are not the problem , it is the irresponsible few that give our wonderful companions a bad name. To the woman above me , Any responsible dog owner , would not leave their dog alone in their yard, and you were mowing the grass, which is frightening to 9 out of 10 dogs. I would believe that the dog being unattended and the lawnmower are the reasons you were bitten , not the dog. If any dog is frightened ,they will snap and bite it is their natural defense. I love my Rottie , and we cant wait to find the perfect Pit Bull for us.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:18 AM I'm not usually a comment deleter but that one had to go.  Don't need anyone perpetuating the myth that you have to get a puppy to get a good dog, at least not on my page.  There are thousands of amazing adult dogs that need homes just as pups do.  And there are also lots of previously abused pit bulls (like my male) that are the sweetest, most trusting dogs and they are great candidates for adoption too!  Because that's the resiliency and people-loving nature of the breed.
