NEW YORK - Syndicated talk show host Montel Williams is being replaced by a younger version of himself.

CBS Television Distribution announced Wednesday that "The Montel Williams Show" will cease production after this television season, his 17th on the air.

Instead, stations that carried his show will be offered a series of Williams reruns. "Best of Montel" will be 52 weeks worth of "some of the most exciting episodes" from the show's history, the producers said.

"I can't say thank you enough to those who've welcomed me into their homes for the past 17 years," Williams said. "It has been both an honor and a joy."

Montel has been a talkshow host that I have watched since his begining of the "Montel Williams Show".  He has brought realism, truth, heart, feeling and true entertainment to the talkshow world.

Maury has too many "baby daddy" crap and the fights between two chicks unknowingly sharing the same guy. Hell, this show is getting just as bad, if not worse than "Jerry Springer".

Oprah is too far stuck up her own ass and has too many celebrities. Seems like the "real world" citizens are not good enough to get ratings anymore. And also now that she has booted Dr. Oz from the show, I really have no reason to watch anymore.

Rachel is really good. But, her show is too "bouncy". You are watching something one minute. Then, by the end of commercial, you are seeing her doing something else. Must be ADHD.

Montel has brought us "real world" topics and people throughout the years. He has always been very open and candid. The bravest thing that I had ever seen that man do was to fully admit to everyone that he is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

He has been there to help children in need. To give hope to the future generations. Montel has helped the less fortunate to get what they need to survive. Including starting a prescription plan for those that can not afford to get their medications.

When the psychic Sylvia Browne came on the scene, at first, I was truly VERY skeptical. No, I didn't buy in to pretty much anything that she had said. But, as time went on, I did notice that some predictions that she has made in the past DID turn out to be true.

Now, I still do have my reservations regaurding Sylvia Browne's predictions. Mainly those of her "readings" in the studio to the audience members. But, on the other hand, I feel that if Montel Williams had any reservations about this psychic woman, that she would not have been a regular on his show. Airing every Wednesday.

When the last episode of "Montel Williams" airs, it will be a sad day in television history. Atleast for me. For it will be the end of a "talkshow era". No, I do not feel that anyone, even the one coming in to replace Montel with a "younger version" of himself can ever make a talkshow that was worthy to watch as Montel has.

Good-bye, Montel. We will miss you greatly. And we hope that you have a long, happy and healthy life. Free from pain from the MS. And please, keep doing your wonderful work with the MS foundation and the prescription program.

Thank you for everything.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 9:30 AM Wow! I can't believe this! Thanks for sharing Missy!  Montel is one that I have watched  for years now. This news really does suck. Like you said, Maury is the same old daddy drama. That's getting really old. One thing that I really liked about Montel was the fact that he had a DIFFERENT topic on there everyday. It was really heartfelt and touching to watch some of his shows somedays. Man, this is sad.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 9:46 AM That's too bad.  I'm sure his disease is finally getting too much to handle while in the spotlight.

wow, you put a lot of thought into this.  I agree with your assessment of all the other hosts.  I like Racheal Ray on 30 minute meals, but her talk show is like ADD on speed.  And don't get me started about Oprah.

from your thought bubble, I thought he had died.  Don't scare me like that, girl.
