thoughts, opinions

The vet called me this morning with very bad news. My beloved kitty is going to have to be put to sleep. He has been suffering for 2 weeks now and the doctor said he has Leukemia.  This is so unfair because we have given him all his shots and everything. I did not know that they could have it when they are born.  Since this is the HIV of cats, it can sometimes take up to 6 or 7 years to show up in them.

We have had many good memories together and this weekend will probably be a difficult one for me.  We even took him on vacation with us in Pigeon Forge recently.  My DH calls him my Deployment Kitty because that is why I originally got him.(when hubby left for his 1st deployment) Then he was there for the 2nd as well. We truly have been through thick and thin, many ups and downs. He had such a spirit that all our friends used to call him Satan-but we liked him that way! He had spunk!

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:21 AM I'm so sorry.  We had to have our beloved sheltie, Chelsea put down a year and a half ago after having had her for 12 1/2 years...since she was 6 weeks old.  I know the pain of putting down a pet that's a big part of your family.  My thoughts will be with you.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 2:13 PM I am so sorry.  He looks so much like my own Rudy and I know how much we kittymoms love our furry babies.  I had to make that decision with my cat Angel when she was almost 20 years old and I thought I was going to die right along with her.  Just remember all the wonderful times you had and give him a hug and a kiss.  He was a very lucky little kitty to have you as his mommy.

Awww... I am so sorry about Snickers! I know how you must be feeling. I have been through 3 of my families cats having to be put to sleep. It is very hard to let them go, but comforting to know they won't be suffering anymore.

Rest in peace Snickers....

Feb. 2, 2008 at 11:45 PM We lost our first dog after the pet food recall, she was 12 so we were unsure if it was the canned food that was recalled by Costco, or her age.  So sorry to hear about our cat!

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. It's amazing the way animals make us feel. I dread the day that my dog dies or has to be put down. They always seem to know what to do to make us feel better.

I'm thinking of you!

Feb. 6, 2008 at 12:03 PM SO sorry I missed this post earlier. I just lost my cat this past fall. It is hard to see them go. But you are so blessed with wonderful memories and companionship. God knew what he was doing when He created pets. Their sole purpose is to make us happy. Hugs and Prayers

I am so sorry about your beautiful sweet kitty..........I know myself that I think of my pets as my kids and I have been through it enough times...Everytime i say.....NO MORE animals.........and that never seems to happen.......They are in our lives for such a short time in comparison to anything/anyone else, but it doesn't stop the pain when you lose them.................

He is gorgeous.....I have a black cat also but not long hair like his.............

My thoughts are w/ you guys.
