The reason most stay at home jobs have a startup fee is because you buy into the business, its yours, you are your own boss, you set your own hours, you dictate how much money you want to me(work less make less, work more make more) you run your business however you want to, you have great tax advantages because its your own Independent Business unlike a corporate america job where the company buys you wholesale and sells you retail telling you what to do, how to do it and when it needs to be done...I personally don't like for someone to tell me when to go to take a lunch break when to come back from one or nothing like that, I want to be in business for myself and noone else...that's my oppinion on why I didnt mind paying my small start up fee of 95.00 which I get to write off on my taxes anyway along with any other business related fees such as gas...
