YESTERDAY WAS MY FIRST DAY WORKING AS A NURSING ASSISTANT. I THINK IT WENT WELL. THE PATIENTS ARE SO NICE AND THEY CAN BE VERY FUNNY TOO. I DIDN'T MIND THE JOB ITSELF, BUT THE PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH ME COMPLAIN ABOUT EACH OTHER ALL DAY. IT REALLY MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I DON'T WANT TO BE THERE. NOBODY GETS ALONG VERY WELL AT ALL. THEY JUST TOLERATE EACH OTHER AND TALK ABOUT EACH OTHER BEHIND THEIR BACKS. SOMETIMES THEY EVEN JUST BLURT IT OUT. I KNOW I HAVE TO STAY THERE FOR A MINIMUM OF 90 DAYS SO I CAN GET REIMBURSED FOR MY SCHOOLING. THEN IF THINGS ARE STILL THE SAME, I MAY HAVE TO MOVE ON. I HAVE A HARD TIME WORKING WITH PEOPLE WHO CAN'T GET ALONG WITH EACH OTHER. IN THE PAST, I HAVE GOTTEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE AND IT ISN'T FUN. I AM GOING TO GIVE THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT THAT THINGS WILL CHANGE AND THEY ARE JUST STRESSED ABOUT ALL THE CHANGES THAT ARE TAKING PLACE AT WORK. I KNOW THEY HAVE MANY CHANGES GOING ON RIGHT NOW. WHAT DOES EVERYONE HERE THINK. DO YOU THINK I AM DOING THE RIGHT THING BY STICKING IT OUT. (IT IS ONLY MY FIRST DAY) OR DO YOU THINK THAT I SHOULD GET OUT NOW? I COULD USE ANY ADVISE YOU HAVE TO GIVE.

Welcome to the real world of the working. Yeah, it's tough to be around all of the backbiting and such, but just focus what you are there for, the love of helping those in need. You are important to them and if you don't allow them to pull you into their immature bickering, then you will be okay. Try setting the example of kindness ans it may catch on, Good luck and God bless.

I am happy to hear that all in all, it went well!  Definitely try to stick it out - I don't know how much your class cost, but I know I am looking forward to that payback  to use for more classes!  90 days will fly, and by then, you might not even hear it anymore.  Focus on the patients and on you, don't let their immaturity get you down!  Best of luck!

~Mary
