So we had our U/S the other day and I was glad to hear that the baby had turned and is now head down.  He is measuring about 5 pounds and definitly still a boy.  After the U/S I saw the dr and I asked if everything looked good in the U/S pictures, my last U/S they could not see all the areas of the heart because of the baby's position.  The dr told me that the heart looked fine but that he did notice that one of the baby's kidneys and the tube leading to the kidney are very swollen.  I asked him what this means.  He said that it is not draining urine like it should but the other side seems to look fine.  He told me that he could send me for more U/S in the perinatal center but they would not do anything until the baby is born or deliver the baby any sooner for this.  He told me that after the baby is born they will do an U/S of his abdomin and see how it looks at that time and that  this problem is normally solved with a minor surgery for the baby......Not what I wanted to hear!!!!  Fist of all I do not want my baby to have to surgery!  I want him to be healthy!  Also I have said from the begining that I want this delivery and everything after to be normal because my first son swallowed meconium and developed pnemonia and was in the NICU for 7 days.  It looks like I still wont get to completely experience the normal delivery and hospital stay.  With my first Son it was very disappointing because you have an idea of what it should be like with the excitment and everyone coming to visit you and the baby.  We really had no visitors because he was in the NICU and we told people that we are in there with him almost all day and not everyone could go in.

I hope and pray that maybe by the time he comes everything will be ok and he will be healthy with no problems.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 2:32 PM I hope things work out well for you and the baby.. the most important thing now is that you do know. I would still do the perinatal u/s just to get a better idea of the issue. they are more detailed.  also... i just wanted to share something.. when i was in the hospital i optioned for no visitors.. i didn't tell anyone cause i wanted to enjoy the baby.. and the sleep i needed to get.  Make the best of it sweety and don't fret about it becuase you need all your energy and good positive thoughts to transfer to the baby.  there is a corelation between mothers moods and babies. I wish you the best
