I buy seventh generation and oxi clean but still have problems. Anybody else have this issue with smelles I live in a small apartment. I have to have the cleaning lady do it because I cannot go any where near the stuff with out feeling sick. I was thinking I could use a mask when I clean but I am still forced into a small place cleaning like the bathroom. I do not want to subject Emma to this at such an early age I send her to grandma's house while this is being done since she has asthma. I think most of it comes form having asthma and being afraid something is going to set it off. But seriously some of it I can not breath. So do any of you use none smelling cleaning stuff like all purpose cleaner that has no scent that you like??? I am left in the dark with this one. And it bothers me to no end. I even have to lave the windows open after it has been cleaned to air it out.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 4:54 PM I have MCS--Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.  I can't use most cleaning products without having horrible painful sores break out all over.  I use hot water and vinegar to scrub counters, the stove, the refrigerator and the bathtubs and sinks.  I have my husband clean the toilets with a bleach product once a week (can't use bleach either)  I also use dampened baking soda and a scrubby sponge for tough baked-on food in the microwave.  There are a few surfactants out there that are polysaccharides and not sulfates--Deccyl Glucoside is one that I can and do use for degreasing and laundry.  Great thing is, you can get Deccyl Glucoside in bulk!  Way cheaper in the end.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 4:55 PM A good homemade cleaner works great, such as water and vinegar mixed in a spray bottle. Or try water and baking soda mixed. I find the smells do get to me,and my grandmother told me to use what i have on hand. It works, Good luck

I have a good friend that uses only 3 solutions to clean the entire house.

1. Alcohol & water

2. Vinegar & water

3. Peroxide & water

She mixes all 50/50. She loves it because it cleans without all the added chemicals. I hope this may help.                                               Althea
