i just found this site. we did not adopt but we are her legal guarding, and she will always live with us.she came in to our lives very fast, we got a call at 2:00 saying " would you please take her" my husband and i didn't even talk, we just looked at each other and i said yes, but only if it was permanent. WE had already raised one of his children, that he would just come back and take him, then we would get him back about ever 6 months and each time my heart hurt so. so with this new little one i just could not let her go the same road as the first. he is now 27 with his own family but it was a very long road he traveled. Samie was 5 years old when she came the same night at 7:00. scared, unsure so many feelings. We had a room ready when she got her, which was our junk room at 2 that day. she came with nothing , so after a run to walmart. we came home to the police and dss. oh boy what fun, not. I work at a school and have for the past 22 years so not really any problems there. asked lot of q. set up court in am. so by 4:00 we where legal .

What an amazing story. Could you elaborate a bit on some of it? Whose child is this? What did you have to do to make it legal so that the police and DSS left you be? How old is she now?

Sorry to ask so much, but it really is an interesting story. :)

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:22 PM she will be 7 in few days. i work and live in same town, grow up here i know alot of people. they know me, we are well know at the school and town, alot of years of helping out when ever needed. that helped. we have been married for 22 yrs, and together for 25ish. at court we where willing to do what ever we needed to do , to keep her safe. her parent had alot of problems and they know that she would have been taken away, if we dident take her, so they did the right thing........ it is  and will always be a hard road to travel. sam know she is safe, loved, wanted and cared for. she is a happy child, but has troubles, it is some times very hard to read between the lines with her, but 1 step at a time. keep smiling
