I am so flippin' heated right now!  A member of one of my breastfeeding groups was talking about a rant by another mom in a non-breastfeeding group.  The non-breastfeeding mom was angry because apparently all breastfeeding mothers have no respect and feed their child in public in front of her.  "what i dont get is WHY some mothers think its ok to just whip their breast out while out to eat and i have to wait on them w their boob just chillin there,or WHY they have to post pictures on their site of their baby latched onto their breast."

Okay-I will handle these topics one at a time and try to do it rather slowly so you understand.  First-why as a breastfeeding mom I "whip out my breast" to feed my child.  Okay, you tell me how to whip out my breast so I can try that sometime.  What I do is DISCREETLY fix my bra and get my child latched on.  Never is there a point where my breast is entirely exposed nor is it grossly exposed while he is nursing.  And-dun, dun dun....I will NOT put a blanket over my childs head-he'll just take it off and I honestly feel it draws more attention to what he's doing.  Nope-I'm not going to go in the bathroom to feed my child.  Its disgusting and nasty to cram myself into a stall, sit on an open toilet seat and expose my child to those germs to make YOU feel more comfortable.  But-please feel free to take your meal and sit in the bathroom while I feed my son.  What? Go sit in the car? I live in Ohio and the current temperature outside is around 12 degrees or so with it being below 0 with the windchill.  Yes, I'll waste gas to heat my car and feed my child just so you can feel comfortable while my child is eating.  NOT!  My son was a preemie and I'm not going to expose him to the elements to ensure I don't offend anyone doing something that's natural. Please allow me to head off your comment about "Sex in natural and I don't do that in public."  SEX tends to be SEXUAL and breastfeeding ISN'T!

Now, why do we as members of breastfeeding groups feel the need to post pictures of our children eating?  Because of the ignorance of people like you...duh.  Mostly because we find it beautiful....I'm sure you have a pic of you feeding your child with a bottle.  I'm not telling you to cover the bottle because I don't want to see it and its offensive.  Tell me-what's the difference besides you may not have posted it on your page or in a siggie?  My siggie in which my son is nursing is extremely tasteful and links you to a group where low and behold is a group of PROUD PUBLIC BREASTFEEDERS.  We fight the ignorance of the people like the OP I am talking about.

My son gets a bottle of breastmilk and formula at day care.  I'm not here to judge how or when anyone feeds their child...... I'm fighting for the legally protected right to feed my child in public!
