I have a dilemma, I live in Corpus Christi, TX and until last week so did my ex-husband. We had week on/week off custody, but according to the divorce decree as soon as either parent moved more than 100 miles away the parent that moved gets custody on the 1st,3rd, and 5th weekend of each month and so on. I do not know how to approach my ex about this afraid that he is going to try and take custody away from me somehow. Right now I am a substitute teacher looking for a more reliable job, but I have every means necessary to support my daughter, however I dont have enough money to hire another attorney. I am currently sans attorney due to my attorney getting a job for the government now and not doing private practice anymore. I am afraid to do anything and I am also afraid that if I dont tell him anything by this sunday he will say i am in the wrong of the decree. I really need advice on what I should do. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

Maybe mail him a copy of the divorce papers with all of the things that you just mentioned underlined?!? He might be smart enough to figure it all out by himself, but it should be a non issue since it is in writing. Try not to borrow trouble, take a deep breath and see how it plays out.

Much Luck!!

Feb. 1, 2008 at 8:54 PM I'm not sure what exactly you are afraid of.  It is in writing --- what the situation will be if one moves away.  Are you afraid to remind him of what is in the decree?  Surely he has to remember the agreement.  Hope he's not moving too far away.  That makes transportation to and from visition a real hassle.  Me and my ex are only one mile away from eachother!

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:09 PM I get very flustered and paranoid around that man. He has tried many underhanded things since the divorce came to be. There are just alot of very technical terms in the decree and I think im nervous because I no longer have an attorney. He moved almost 5 hours away, and it is very hard on the travel. I had to make a round trip last Sunday and it was pretty harsh. I am just afraid I have missed something and without an attorney I am afraid I am going to get railroaded.
