My almost 3 yr old started preschool mon & wed from9-1130am I went 2 pick her up @ 1120 & she was no where 2 be found. All the other kids were watching a movie & my baby wasnt there. So the aide said shes in there. But nope she wasnt so the teacher who was in the back room went searching for her. My girl was in the bathroom sitting on the potty and didnt let anyone know she was there. I had let the aide know she cant wipe her woo-woo "poo-poo" I felt horrible that she was sitting there waiting for someone to wipe her. So I went in & wiped her. I asked her if she watched the movie & she said no what movie. The movie time is at 11. So I guess this means my daughter was sitting on the potty for 20 min waiting for her woo woo 2 be wiped. My heart broke. Am I over reacting or is this just 1st time mommy not letting go, or a problem? HELP

Uh, No .. I wouldn't think you would be over reacting! Why didn't they notice her gone from the room in 20 minutes time? What if she had gone out the door?

Not that your daughter needs to be watched that close, If I had someones child, I dont think it would take me 20 MINUTES or more to know they are not in the room and if she was in the bathroom and the Aide knew it, why didn't she go in after a couple minutes to see if everything was okay? What if she was sick or fell down?

I would talk to the main person of the daycare and tell her of your concern .. I dont think safety is over reacting! ... Good luck

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:44 PM I agree I don't think you over reacted at all.  That is just crazy to not know she had be missing for that long.

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:46 PM i dont think you are overreacting.  if they did not miss or know where my kids where for 20 minutes i would want an explanation from someone.  you are trusting these people to take care of your kids.  i would talk to someone in charge to.

Aw! The caregiver should know where your child is at all times! You are not overreacting. You are going on instinct. I think you should talk it over with your caregiver. If she doesn't care, then you should look elsewhere.

Good luck!

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:48 PM No you are not over reacting that is ridulous. where were the care takers? did they even know she wasn't in the group?  Anything could have happened in that period of time. I would be very concerned,  used to work at a day care and I would have never let a child go potty without being close by just in case they were climbers like my son. That is laziness or to short of a staff to properly care for the amount of kids they are "caring" for

Feb. 4, 2008 at 5:00 PM You're not overreacting at all!!!  They should know where every child is at all times!  You just never know what could happen.  If they can't keep track of every single child every minute then maybe they need to hire additional help.  Stories like this is why I'm having such a HARD time going back to work after 3 yrs.  I would for sure talk to the manager, he/she really needs to know.
