I don't know what to do, but my mom still has the ability to make me feel like I am young again.  Tonight my DH and I went to show my mom and dad my son's new haircut.  We like it alot.  He has a bad cowlick in the back and we decided to cut it short to avoid the problem.  My mom had a total fit because we cut his hair short in the winter....omg!!!  Total sin!!!! What were we thinking.  I mean she went to her room and wouldn't talk to us because we cut his hair.  She used to do this when I was growing up, but it has been a while.  My dad said she had a bad day, but come on.  I would think that I am used to it by now, but it still hurt.

Yes, moms have a way to make their children still feel like "children".  Sorry, that your mother acts so immaturely.

There is probably nothing that you can do except ignore her behavior.

Some moms have a hard time letting go of the control ... I wouldn't let it bother you.

If she pouts, let her but don't let your son see how Grandma bugs you .. that could haunt you later.

I know it is hard .. My MIL is the same control kind of person, but my hubby put her in her place a few years back. She didn't talk to us for about 5 years, but then came around. It was a peaceful 5 years (lol)

Feb. 1, 2008 at 10:48 PM Ignore her reaction and let it slide right off you!  It's not like you were letting him wear sandals, shorts and a tank top outside...You got his hair cut....What's the big deal?? They made hats and snow caps for a reason. You and your hubby like the style...and I'm sure your son does too. I know where your comming from though...my dad is the same way with me...I don't know why I let what he says bother me but somehow it always does.

Thanks so much Ladies, I know I shouldn't let it bother me, but sometimes it is just so hard not to.  Thank you for all your kind words.
