Is it fair that ever time I discipline or set rules my stepson his dad, changes things. I mean he is his son but, isn't he my stepson. I'm not suppose to discipline or set rules  . Is it wrong for him to change what I said, I mean I am taking care of him all the time all day long. Dont I have the right to set rules, His been here with us almost all his life. I feel like if I can't discipline him, they don't need to be with me.  Just let me know what you think because I'm all mixed up. And what kind of discipline should I beable to do to him, I never wipe him. His dad always says while his my son, and all I wont to say is then take your son somewhere else.

when my husband and I first moved in together, it was an odd feeling. I had my daughter and he had his two kids. At first, I wasn't very involved in discipline, and then we went through an awkward phase where I would say one thing, but the (then) boyfriend would enforce somethign different. One incident was I put his daughter in the corner for something or another and of course she cried and threw a fit (being 2 1/2) and daddy "rescued" her right away. It was frustrating.

We talked about it and I explained my feelings to him. Its a team effort to take care of kids. I don't think a marriage can work unless the parents have mutually agreed discipline rules.
