I was just out shopping and buying my 8 monh old daughter some clothes for next fall and winter and one of the 2 girls at the store starting saying how they would never buy clothes ahead of the season because they might not fit.... this is ridiculous to me, I bought some stuff in 18mos and some 24 some 2t for when she's bigger they're pants and sweatsuits, some long sleeve shirts, t-shirts!! why would you think your child would never be able to wear this stuff!!!!!! this made me so mad.... sorry I just had to vent, thanks

Feb. 2, 2008 at 2:35 PM I'm guilty I buy next years school clothes in Feb. lol I've never had a problem with it because my kids aren't prone to huge growth spurts.

Feb. 2, 2008 at 2:35 PM My daughter is 15 months old and last summer I bought a ton of stuff for this summer.(18 months and up) She already has a huge rubber-maid container full of clothes for the next season. I try to get a lot of her stuff on clearance. If you ask me it is definitely the way to do it. You can get so much more clothing if you do it that way. I hate to pay full price for anything especially at 1 year old because they grow out of it so fast.

Feb. 2, 2008 at 2:35 PM I've always bought ahead! It just makes sense! When you get them on sale at the end of a season, you're saving money and preparing for the future at the same time! If something happens to not quite fit, I've always found someone that could use it instead! Keep shopping!

Feb. 2, 2008 at 2:45 PM ive bought a few things ahead of time......like swim suits for madisyn for this summer and some pants and things. the sizes of all of these clothes were either 18 mos or 12 months and they already dont fit her, so i see what they mean. like the swim suit i bought my dd was 18 mos and shes only 10 months and it doesnt it. or if u bought shorts early on and they didnt fit by the time the weathers nice enough. so i see where theyre coming from, but i guess if ur child doesnt have growth spurts constantly it would work. haha. i still buy ahead on things like jeans and shirts. (never shorts or skirts though) because those could be worn year around!

I am guessing they might not have children... I remember my mom doing our shopping for next year at the end of each season.  I am doing the same for my guys!
Plus, do you know about Freecycle?  I already have enough nice clothing for my guys for winter & I didn't have to pay a cent!

www.freecycle.org and look for a group in your area!
