I did not leave cafemom over that and I am not leaving cafemom.  It was the last straw in a long list of VERY PETTY comments and I had to rant.  I do not post political opinions, childrearing opinions, breastfeeding opinions, war opinions, military opinions and many, many others I have.  I post about small, petty, inconsequential things.  I don't need people telling me I am some sort of weirdo or redneck or whatever based on the types of words I use.  i am talking about regional phrases or words.  Take for example soda.  I used to say "coke" for all carbonated drinks because where I grew up that is what we said.  Now I say "soda" because that is what everyone around here says.  Some of my family says "pop", since that is what they say in their area.  Now, imagine someone tells you that if you say "soda" you are not as educated, cool, politically correct or what have you than they are because they say "pop".  It is all semantics.  Who cares?  Like really, who cares?  I am pissed because that is the type of petty comments I am getting!  At least criticize me for something of more consequence than the types of words I use.

PS.  the soda-pop-coke thing is an example.  just an example.

It is annoying when some people do nothing but criticize..for the most part the most of the mom's here are nice.  Please don't let the few who love to sow hate and discontent get you down.

Feb. 2, 2008 at 3:56 PM I agree.  Some of the things people make fun of on here are ridiculous!  It pisses me off very often.  There is a group who makes fun of the way people spell things or say things.

I agree, it is a REGIONAL or CULTURAL thing.  Personally, I just say, "cold drink," or whatever specific drink I want, like "Diet Coke."  I don't think you should be criticised for words you choose to use.  I make up words sometimes, and I dare anyone to tell me otherwise!

Take care,
