Nonoluna's Take On Life

Unapologetically Me

When was the last time you took public transportation (bus or train) to get somewhere? When did you last reach your destination under your own power (walking, bike or roller blades)?

I walk to the discount store that has a grocery section occasionally. Last time was Thursday. Can't say it's a long walk, however, my neighbour has to drive since she has mobility issues.

The last time I took the bus was a few weeks ago. Got me to the gym and home when the roads were messy or my husband had needed the car for work. He only drives when he has offsite meetings.

As much as some areas are underserviced where public transit is concerned, most of us have gotten into the culture of the car and don't even consider other means of travel.

I like to fly-But it's not always the right form of transportation. I am a car junky...I drive far to get to the right stores. Example tomorrow I am going to Monsey NY for clothes and food. I live in CT and we don't have as many stores that sell modest clothing and we don't have Kosher Butchers here. So this Vegetarian Momma has to go to Monsey for her Carnivorous family. BUT I get your point! IT IS HARD FOR ME!

You are the coolest though!

We are just too spoiled we want to access the world. I jog to exercise and I really don't enjoy walking- I know I am weird.

Feb. 2, 2008 at 8:05 PM You know, when the weather is nice, I'll walk to the grocery store or drugstore, but I have to admit, I'm a wimpy California girl, and these icy cold Wyoming days tend to find me driving my car.

A big part of my weight problem is that I used to walk/run a minimum of 4 miles a day.

Now,we live where we do not have public transportation, and if you dared try to cross the highway, you just might get ran over.

I do live on a dead end street, but when I take one look up that hill, I sit back down. (that's where "my" lazy comes in)

I also can't get to far from the phone.( not by choice)

i have never riden public transportation... well except the school bus when i was in high school.......

it's suburban here, the public transportation isn't the most ideal thing for traveling.

but when we were in toronto, dh took a side trip to visit a friend and went on the subway and bus and he raved about it!  we will do that next time and not park in the creepy underground parking ramp!

Feb. 3, 2008 at 12:57 AM I don't think I could get to the bus stop unless I walked 1 mile down hill.  Then 1 mile up hill to get home.  I live in a very unpublic acessed area.  It's a great area, but if you need transportation, your screwd.  I go for walks with the kids in stroller and bike.  We would not make it to the closest store, antique shop unless we had wheels.  One time we got to the shop and it started to rain.  We had to call for a taxi to take us home.  Too bad for us. =(

We took the train last weekend (I posted about it, actually), and LOVED IT!  the change of pace, the frienly faces, the relaxation...I truly enjoyed the metro train.

Lost blessings...thanks for reminding us all to re-examine and explore.  : )

I would LOVE to be able to walk to a store, but you've heard of the saying "A country mile"'s VERY long around here!  A walk around my home is to follow the creek behind the house, and see what you can see. Some pretty cool things most times, and very peaceful...

You're right tho, it's fun to explore and do something different!
