So here' s the story! I have 2 lab mixes; Buster and Sadie. We have a large backyard, that we are working on fencing in. However, only the stringers are up, not the actual fence boards.  Our backyard backs up to a wooded area.  So, I'm sure you can just guess what they did tonight!! Straight off the deck, thru the yard and out the fence. At first, my dh and I are just yelling for them, they usually listen. Notice I said, "usually".  Then as I realize that too much time is passing and we can't see them, I run and grab my boots. Where we live, we have 4-6 inches of snow.  Of course as I'm running, my dh is just standing there. No, he couldn't go with me b/c the baby is home and asleep. But... should I have been the one running thru the woods?? Probably not. Anyways...  I running thru the dark woods screaming their names.  Still I hear nothing! Finally, here comes Buster, the stinker, but the more intelligent dog. "Thank you God! Now where is Sadie?"  I thought for sure Sadie would stay with Buster. But he is much faster and probably lost her.  So, I call dh to take over on Buster, I'm going after Sadie. After several minutes, I finally see their tracks in the snow . And with those tracks are hoof prints, most likely from a deer.  Ah-hah! That's why they ran off, a deer!  But more and more time is passing and she's no where in sight.  I start praying, " Please Lord, bring her back! Please!!". Tears are swelling up in my eyes. I'm starting to picutre her lost in the woods, I never find her, and I have to go home empty handed. I'm saying the Our Father and screaming her name. Then I hear it...... jingle, jingle, jingle. It's her collar. "Oh Thank you God! Here Sadie, here!" And she runs into my arms. We are hugging in the middle of a road in the snow, and I couldn't be happier! I couldn't even be mad at them. I was just so grateful they came back to me. I love my dogs sooo much. I don't know what I would have done!  There is a serious rush to finish that damn fence :)
