We were doing fine. We put him to bed every nite at 8 pm, tuck him in, say goodnite & turn the light off. Walk out and never look back.  All of a sudden the last 4 nights he's hysterical before we even get out of the room.  Last night it was 12:30 am before he passed out.  Today we took the side off his crib to make the daybed for him, thinking that he can at least get out of his bed and stay in his room.  He can get back in bed when he wants and get his own paci's and pillow off the floor that he has thrown across the room. However, now he is just hysterical and pounding at his bedroom door.  (waking up his 1 yr old brother)  We feel like we've abandoned him in his room, but don't know what else to do.

Anyone else go thru this?

We have the same issue. I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old. We decide on a daily basis if she will sleep in our room or her crib or with her older sisters. Most evenings she cries in the night and we go get her and bring her to bed. It won't last forever, just a phase. Make sure he isn't hurting, he can get to you, there is lighting in his room and he is comfortable.

Feb. 2, 2008 at 9:27 PM Thanks. I do hope it's a short phase. I feel like the worst mom in the world to have him so upset and screaming.
