OH MY GOODNESS!!  I am so stressed right now ( I'm using red to express my anger  :)  ).. I feel like I have no control of my 2 kids.  I have spent the last several hours cleaning from room to room, while I am doing one room they go right behind me and completely destroy the one I came from!  I know this is a common complaint...but good grief!  Just now I was in the other room and I walked in to the family room and they had the Connect 4, Elefun, Memory and Dora ABC game thrown everywhere...I took away the toys that they were playing with and told them they could have them back when they helped me clean up all the games...they cried, whined, etc...and I lost it!  It has been a LONG day and I am just so tired of feeling like this!  I tried to reason with them, I yell at them, put them in time out until they help but nothing works!  I put all the games in a trash bag and told them no more playing until they can help clean it up, but do they understand what I am saying?  They are 4 and 2... How do I get them to help??

Any advice would be appreciated, but I think more or less I just needed to vent...whew...I feel a little better now.  They are usually so sweet and good natured, but boy, when they decide to test things, they go all out.

PS... now my daughter is in here and just put her little arms around my neck and said, "will you hold me?" in her sweet little voice...she knows just what to do...

Feb. 2, 2008 at 10:58 PM You didn't say how old your kids were. But I certainly can empathize. I have a 21 year old, a 17 year old, and a 7 year old. So, I've pretty much been through every phase, lol. And I'm going to experience them again, since mine are so spaced. My oldest is married and has her own family now, but I still have these kinds of issues with Teengirl and Mancub. I discovered a book a couple of years ago that has been so helpful since I read it (and re-read it many times). It is called scream-free parenting. They also have a website, screamfree.com. I wish I would have discovered it sooner. Anyway, best wishes to you, honey. I LOVE my children, I LOVE being a mom, but it is a tough job, and I vented many times (and will in the future, I'm sure!!! :)
