Though I think I've reached my decision, I'm still doing my research on vaccinations. This is a really big deal for my husband and I and we want to make sure that we make the right choice.

BUT ...

IT PISSES ME OFF WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE SAY THEY HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE HELL THE DEFINITION OF VACCINATION IS!

Case and point:

There was an outbreak of whooping cough at a school. Ten kids got it, and all ten of those kids had vaccinations.

WHY IS IT THAT THOSE WHO DON'T VAX THINK THIS IS SUCH A BIG DEAL?

VACCINES DO NOT MAKE YOU IMMUNE!

I don't know how many times I have to tell people this!

If so many people REALLY did their research like they said they did, then they would know that a vaccination DOES NOT MAKE YOU IMMUNE! Being immune means you are not susceptible to ANY disease ... basically you're invincible against diseases. Come on! Common sense should say that this isn't the case. I'm sure if vaccines made us completely immune to diseases there wouldn't be so much controversy surrounding them!

If people would do their damn homework like they say they have done, then they would know that vaccines PREPARE YOUR BODY FOR CONTACT WITH PARTICULAR DISEASES SO THAT IF YOU DO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE DISEASE, YOUR BODY WILL ALREADY KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET RID OF THE DISEASE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE!

THAT MY FRIENDS IS WHAT A VACCINE DOES! IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU FLIPPIN' SUPERMAN SO THAT YOU ARE NOT PRONE TO GET ANY DISEASES!

EVEN IF YOU ARE VACCINATED YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU'VE BEEN VACCINATED AGAINST, BUT YOUR BODY IS BETTER PREPARED TO WARD IT OFF! I was vaccinated against chicken pox but I had them when I about six, and thank goodness they weren't too bad. I had a very mild fever and a little itchiness, that's all. As a matter of fact, all of my siblings were vaccinated against chicken pox and WE ALL HAD THEM! But luckily they weren't that bad for any of us. Some itched more than others, some had a higher fever than others, but thank goodness noone had to be hospitalized for it.

Sorry for the yelling! But it pisses me off that so many people say they have done their research and they don't even know the definition of a vaccine or what it does. That should've been the basis of your damn research! To learn what a vaccine does! Yes they call them immunizations but be real ... you know good and well they don't IMMUNIZE you against anything, they VACCINATE you so that's why I call them what they are. When one of them makes someone IMMUNE to something, THEN I will call them immunizations!

So don't get it twisted! If you don't know what the definition of vaccination is then please go look it up. I guarantee you it does not say that you will be IMMUNE to a disease!

Let me say that I respect the decisions of both mothers who vaccinate and mother's who don't vaccinate; it's your child and your choice. Why did I write this post? Because a group of non-vaxers were bashing the parents of the kids who got sick that I mentioned (who are vaccinated) so I gave them the same speech ... vaccines do not make you immune!

Ok, I'm done! LOL! Back to good ol' nice Tiffany now!

BTW, though it may not seem like it, I think we're going to vaccinate our child. They will delayed; we're going to wait until the baby is a year old, and we're cutting the flu shot completely out (neither of us has had one so we're not going to give it to our child, plus there's a new strain of flu every year so what's the point?), but I think we've made our decision. Still researching nonetheless so it could change, but right now I'm leaning towards it.

Feb. 3, 2008 at 12:26 AM We choose to Vaccinate.....and delayed some of Lily's shots a few months past each check up date......We didn't get the Flu shot for lily either.......Although she has had shots before her birthday so far so good. I didn't research anything before lily was born and i probably should have however i did ask a lot of questions at the doctor before they gave her any shots. So far so good. I know the struggle of to vaccinate or not to vaccinate i still question it.....but have made the choice to continue. I totally agree with your post. It's hard to imagine that people can think that vaccinations will make their kids immune to everything.......Definately not the case!!!!!!

That's what has me so steamed! People SAY that they have done their research and they won't vax because of this and that, and that's fine, but you should AT LEAST know what the heck a vaccination is! It doesn't make you immune, so why is it so funny when a group of vaccinated kids gets sick with whooping cough? VACCINES DON'T MAKE YOU IMMUNE SO THEY CAN STILL GET IT, they're body is just better prepared to fight it off quickly! My goodness! LOL! Some research these people did! That's EXACTLY why I do my own research. It's not good to be blind to the facts and being led by someone else whose blind to the facts too! I darn sure don't want to be led by anybody who swears they've done their research and don't know what the heck a vaccine really does!

LoL, it is not because we haven't done our research and because we think that vaccinations confer immunity. It is because so many people who do vaccinate believe that it confers immunity. It is an example of something we believe and know. We know that vaccinations do not confer immunity, and we try to inform many people who blindly follow the Dr's and believe that they do. So when stories like this come out we go, "Hey, lookie here. See, all vaccinated. See, vaccines are not 100%." It is not because we don't know what we are talking about.

This topic is so heated!  I posted a poll about this several weeks ago, and it is still going around, being debated on. We have CHOSEN to vaccinate our son.  I just want every mother to know that you do have a CHOICE.  So many believe that this is mandatory in order to enroll your child in school, when in reality that is completely false!

As long as mothers know they have the choice, I am satisfied. :)

Great post, thanks!!
