Yesterday Sammie showed us that she is figuring out how to climb out of her crib.  So we took the side off of her crib and put on the partial sides to convert it to a toddler bed.  She loved it!

Of course, this meant she was in and out of that bed constantly...

I ended up sleeping on her floor, next to her bed last night.  She only rolled out of the bed once.  Tonight, she is on her own.  She is actually falling asleep on her floor right now, if she wants to be in her bed, she can climb in it, otherwise, I don't mind her sleeping on the floor.

She ended up not taking any naps today because every time we would put her in her bed for a nap, she would be right up playing.  I was hopeful that she would tire herself out and crash eventually, but no such luck.  So, this might spell the end of naps and her just going to bed earlier at night.  We'll see...

 UPDATE...

We put the side back up... She seemed to be scared by the new-found ability to get out of the bed by herself.  Almost like she was really insecure knowing that she couldn't roll against the side.

We will probably try again after a few months...

Feb. 6, 2008 at 10:17 AM Don't feel bad.  I think you probably made the right decision, trust your instincts.  We just last week took the side off my ds's crib - and he is 2 1/2 now.  He is different when it comes to sleep patterns, he's usually pretty good about lying down.
