Barbara Charline Jordan was the first African-American to serve in the U.S. congress from the South since reconstruction; first Black woman to preside over a state senate; and the first Black person to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention.

Sorry to say that she passed away several years ago. She had a debilitating disease for a long time. She might have been in her late 50s when she passed. It was very sad. I think I remember her from the Watergate hearings. Am I right?
