Feb. 6, 2008 at 7:21 AM when i was nursing my daughter, they put me on a special pill. if you go on a regular birth control pill it will pass to your child thru the milk.  that is what the dr told me... so i had to go on a pill that made me safe from getting pregnant.. and i still did not have my period with it. so i was doing good with it.. there are no duds on it. at least the ones that i got did not have any duds on it... it worked good for me. and then wheni was done nursing. i did this for 1 year... i then got my first period. i hope this helps you..

Feb. 6, 2008 at 7:59 AM Yes, they will put you on the mini pill (there are a few kinds: micronor, yasmin). Every woman is different so you may or may not get your period. Who knows. Just know that if you stop BF, you MUST change the pill b/c there is not enough hormone in the mini pill without BF to make sure you do not get pg.

Feb. 6, 2008 at 9:26 AM I actually went on the pill about 1 month after giving birth.  I was on loestrin (Actually generic form which is micronor) and nothing happened to my supply or anything and yes I did get my period back although it seems a lot lighter than before.

Feb. 6, 2008 at 9:27 AM I was on Erinn BC pills. I have not started my period yet either. Erinn has to be taken at the same time each day because the dose is so low so it want interfere with the BM. However I stopped taking them in Dec. because we want to get pregnant if not for that i would still be on them. It did not bother the production of my milk.

Feb. 6, 2008 at 10:44 AM I got an IUD, it's great, b/c the hormones go straight into the uterus & not the blood stream, so it doesn't affect supply at all! & I don't have to remember to take a pill, it lasts 5 years, but you can get it taken out at any time, & you're just as fertile!
