My daughter told her entire class that I was Goth!

You see this is diversity week at the high school. Not really focusing on race or religion but on the different groups in the school. Jocks, Nerds, Skaters, Preps, Emo, Goth etc. She is definitely a prep. She tried to be a skater but went back to pink real fast. I was a prep in high school too. Yet...
Her English teacher was discussing what in meant to be goth in class. She explained that not all of them worshiped the devil. Others just wore black, went against societies fashion, music and decor etc.
That's when my airhead of a teen said " My mom is Goth" You should see on house it looks like a dungeon. Okay it sort of does. I have lots of black wrought iron and candles, Celtic wall hangings and I keep the blinds closed most of the time. This is because with the glare you can't see the TV and the other window faces where they are building a new home, I get tired of looking at a back hoe.
Her teacher went on to say that see that is a perfect example. I am sure Nikki's mom is very nice and you have already judged goths to be awful people. Mean while all the kids are sitting there will their mouths open. She did say that I don't worship the devil because I don't believe that one exists.
My daughter has always been confused about my pagan/druid beliefs. She is not into my Celtic heritage, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or any of the renaissance fairs that I attend. My son is. She thinks I am weird.
At the same time, She will not let me cut my hair, buy soccer mom jeans or drive a mini van. So I am not sure what she wants me to be.
A few months back we were watching Cash in the Attic on BBC. They were showing this headboard that I thought was gorgeous. They expalined that this was of the Gothic style. Since it looked similar to the style I have in my home. I said. "Oh I never knew I was Goth "
So my daughter took this and ran with it. This isn't the first time. But now about 30 kids think that I dress all in black, cast spells and listen to depressing music.
I told her I am not goth, I am bohemian. She replied look around mom, you only have black, green and deep purple in your closet. The entire house is black and green. You hate pastel colors even in the summer. We have a table that has a tree beard incense holder, a goddess candle, the goblet of fire, Dragons and a fairy with black wings on it. We even have a picture of Mount Doom in our bathroom, which is mostly black. Your favorite music is the soundtracks of LOTR, HP and every other mystical movie you have seen. You are goth.
So I am asking am I?
Oh and she also said that when I wear my long fairy hem skirts and bell sleeved shirts I would look like a witch if I wasn't a blond. LOL! Funny thing is I wore that outfit in black with a hooded cloak for Halloween. When I asked aren't you going to comment on my costume. She said mom you look like you always do. When one person commented on my outfit ( My son's principal ) She said no this is how my mom always dresses. ROFLOL!

Oh, that's priceless! Thank the stars that she's there to help you figure out who you are, right?
As for what does she want you to be, hell, she doesn't know what SHE wants to be yet. How on earth can she figure out what she wants YOU to be, too?? She's a teen. All she knows is what she DOESN'T want, not what she DOES want.
And if you lived closer, I'd do the faires and "mystical movies" thing with you. We could embarrass our teens together.
