I am new to cafemom but I have a question and would appreciate any advise. I am taking a long flight at the end of March(from Denver to Pittsburgh). My son will be 5 months then. I am looking for some tips as I have never flown with him before. I have actually only flown 2 times myself. Is it better to have them on your lap or in a seat? Do their ears hurt? How to occupy them? What to pack? Etc... Also, I am BF so how have other moms handled that? I normally don't BF in public,  but it's very soothing for him. Anyways, any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hmm, let's see. I felw with my DD at 3 months old. It really is up to you whether you have him in your lap or in the seat. In your lap is free, having a seat costs an extra ticket.  I didn't mind having DD in my lap because all my bags except for purse and diaper bag were checked (you can also check the car seat).  BF shouldn't be an issue, escpecially if it soothes your son, just have a blanket or BF bib over you.  Depending on how long you flight is (I'm assuming maybe 2 hrs at most) just pack the essentials with a few toys he really likes. I find it much easier to fly with an infant verses an 19 month old.

Hope that helps a little.
