Inconsiderate SMOKERS!!!

I hate hate hate! Cigarette smoke! It is disgusting! Ok so you have the right to poison your own body if u so chose to. But why do you have to poison everyone around you?! I mean really is it that hard to just walk down wind of other people and do your dirty deed? Or not smoke when kids are around. Or not smoke right in front of Babies r’ Us. Walk around the side of the building or go way out in the parking lot for goodness sakes! So me and my child don’t have to walk thru your poison cloud to get inside a store. Sure it is inconvenient for you, but I think cancer from your second hand smoke (or asthma attack or whatever) would be a lot more inconvenient for me or my kid. And for goodness sakes give yourself a few minutes to air out before coming back inside with other people!  And I know it can be done. My dad is a smoker but I was never really exposed to it becuse he was respectful. IT’S ABOUT RESPECT PEOPLE!!!!

Feb. 8, 2008 at 12:40 AM I just want to say that as a smoker I too dont like it when people are inconsiderate. I am one of the few smokers who considers other people around me when lighting up. I dont think that its right for people to walk in some public place still blowing smoke or to do it right at the entrance. However, please dont make it seem that we are a disgrace to society just because we do have a bad habit. Everyone has something that they do that they are not proud of. No one is perfect and again I do agree with the space thing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I grew up around smokers, but was never exposed to it. My mother and most of my family smoke, but they always went outside where no children or non-smokers were present. Back then the dangers of second-hand smoke weren't publicized; my family just didn't feel it would be polite to smoke around people that don't. I thought that was how all smokers were. Oh my... I was SO wrong!

When I was 15 I took a job at a donut shop. At the time, smoking was allowed in indoor public places. I was sent home sick my first day of work- I had some kind of attack due to all the smoking in the shop. I never had respiratory problems and I don't have asthma. I don't know why people would light up cigarette after cigarette in such a small place, but there seems to be something about coffee and cigarettes.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know you're not alone in feeling this way. I'm all for people doing what makes them happy... as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.
