OK, both boys have mild cases of pneumonia. Devin had a fever of 102-103 for 7 days (broke Friday morning) & Tyler had a fever & a yuck sounding cough (fever more low grade than his brother). They have not attended Karate classes in over a week & were not really able to do much working on their form that they were to do in an In-House Karate Tournament today. I gave both of them the chance to bow out gracefully. I told them that they didn't have to go if they did not want to. Both of them wanted to go. I reminded them that their lack of practicing might make it tough on them for them. They didn't care. They wanted to learn what a tournament would be like. (Granted, this was a very small tournament involving 3 karate schools, not like a big region tournament. It was a chance to understand what happens in a tournament.) Both boys did fantastic!!! Devin took 2nd place for his form & 3rd place in sparring. Tyler took 4th place on his form & 2nd place in sparring. The boys we in the same division & were such good sports to each other (even when Tyler beat Devin sparring). I was so impressed with both of them. They showed the life skills that the class has taught them, positive attitude, perseverance and respect. Such a proud mom day!
