What really makes me laugh, and in the same token also makes me cry, is the poor use of grammar and spelling I come across on line. I plead with all of you out there, PLEASE use spell check (it's SO easy), and check your grammar, as well.
How can we raise well-educated children, when parents don't know the difference between your and you're, who and whom, there, their and they're, here and hear, etc. If you don't know how to spell a word, or you're unsure, use a dictionary (does anyone even know that they exist anymore?). Now, I'm not claiming to be Miss English Professor here, but I always try to make sure I've got things correct.
Typographical errors happen - we all make mistakes - but please, please, please spell check!!! Sorry about this rant, but I just read a post that was full of misspellings and grammatical errors and it's a huge pet peeve.
Comments:
I completely agree. I make mistakes sometimes, as do we all, but for goodness sakes......
I read entirely too many posts that look like they were written by a third grader at best. I hate to sound judgemental, but I have to agree. It's not that hard to write a post and check the spelling. It's hard for me to take a post seriously, or even finish reading the post when it's written poorly. I guess it's a pet peeve of mine as well.
LOL - YES.
I've given up even mentioning it anymore. I completely blame the government's imposition of public education that's sub-par on nearly every level, and getting worse every year. And we celebrate it by fighting for "ebonics" to be validated as an actual "language"
*sigh*
I'm glad you all agree! I understand some people are just terrible spellers (I have one in my family), but really, spell check is a beautiful thing - embrace it!!! I've never even thought about the mommies who home-school - that is a truly scary prospect! I was actually expecting someone to post a comment criticizing my observation. I'm glad no one has!

Let's not forget the mommies who HOMESCHOOL their kids and dont know the difference between bald and balled, threw and through, here and hear, bare and bear, there, they're, their etc.
