My baby is about to turn 4 months old and lately she has been guming her bottle nipples and sucking on her hands, and last night she was crying for no reason really really crying and she isn't a crybaby at all. I just need some information on teething and is it too early for her to be going threw this when is it suppose to start?

Feb. 18, 2008 at 5:38 PM As far as I know, baby's can start teething at any time.. My nephew is only going on 3 months and he has a little tooth popping in! From the sounds of what she's doing, she may be teething.. Try rubbing baby orajel, or getting the teething tablets, and see if the crying stops!

Feb. 18, 2008 at 5:39 PM not at all! she's teething. You can do motrin then tylenol, every 4 hours I think. Also, put a wet rag in a ziploc in the fridge. when it gets cold, let her chew it

Feb. 18, 2008 at 5:42 PM My son started teething at 3 1/2 months  just look in her mouth does there look like there are small white bumps under the gums.  Those are teeth.  They could just be red swollen bumps at the moment.  Those teething rings that you can keep in the refrigerator help numb the gums.

Honey, as a mom whose sons are now teenagers, it is okay to be worried, but she is bascially teething. Some babies never have pain too much and some do, and she is probably working on her first set of teeth by six months old. Just give her something cool to chew on, like a cold washcloth or a cool teeter(put some in fridge instead of freezer and she should like that). If necessary, you can give er Tylenol, I think it usually goes by weight or age, but you can easily ask her ped or a pharmacist.

Just remember, mom needs her time for herself too, even if for a few minutes. Get sleep when she gets sleep if you can. Don't worry about cleaning,etc... til you have had some rest and baby is happy.

good luck!
